Time is precious and there is nothing worse than getting bogged down trying to get posts on Facebook (FB) when you need/want to be doing something else. There is no time like the present to take control over posting on FB. This is just the tip of the iceberg in getting the word out on social media about your product or what you do. |
It is my opinion, to garner followers, you need to be consistent and post regularly. For me, I choose to post pictures on our DAKATAMA site every morning between 5:00 and 5:30. Yes, there are mornings I am in front of the screen at that time; however, I also take advantage of scheduling posts for the times I’m not available. The Ann Edall-Robson FB page, gets additions as blogs are finished, and when there is an interesting article, I feel is worth sharing. Again, all can be shared on a schedule.
Add a Photo
Load a picture/movie/etc.
Write something, even if it's a few words, always write something.
Follow General Scheduling Instructions at the end of this post.
Add a Link to an Article or Blog Post
Go to the host page where you found the information.
Click on the title of the article or blog.
Highlight the url.
STOP - The url needs to include the title of the blog or article? If it doesn’t (examples: www.annedallrobson.com OR www.annedallrobson.com/morning-muse), click on the title again to refresh your choice and check the url again. When the title appears at the end of the website name, (example: www.annedallrobson.com/morning-muse/morning-muse-when-to-post-on-social-media) you are ready to go to the next step.
Copy the high lighted url and paste it into the ‘Write Something’ box on FB.
Wait for the link to populate. It will show up below the url you pasted. This is now the link back to the piece.
Delete the url link you pasted. Yes, delete! You don't need it and the populated link.
Write your own introduction to the link.
Follow General Scheduling Instructions at the end of this post.
When you're finished writing your words, adding #hashtags and are happy with the picture or link you've added, it's time to move on to the business of scheduling your post.
- At the bottom right of the post is a blue tab - Publish
- Open the drop down arrow to see - Schedule - Back Date - Save Draft
- Choose Schedule. A pop up box will open.
- Choose the Date you want your post to go live.
- Choose the Time and AM or PM.
- Click on Schedule
- NOTE regarding #Hashtags - A bit off topic, but well worth paying attention to. - Add #hashtags (not too many) below the words/introduction you have written. Make them relevant to the photo or topic. Too many will turn people off. Examples for a picture or article about an October full moon - #Moon #NightSky #Full #Hunter. Example of what not to do - #FullMoon #HunterMoon #OctoberMoon. Hashtags need to be your friend. Temper your enthusiasm to use them. Use them wisely.
The post will disappear from the page. Don’t panic.
Below the Write Something box there will be the words Scheduled Post.
It will tell you the date of your next scheduled post and the time it is going to show up.
You can check out your scheduled posts by opening the See Posts.
From the open See Posts, you can edit wording, change scheduled post time and delete posts.
If you don’t think all of your posts are listed, close out of FB and open up again. This refreshes the area and all should be visible.
Spend a half an hour or hour posting and scheduling, walk a way and let Facebook do your marketing for the rest of the week or month.
Scheduling posts can be done at any time. Once they are there, your only job is to check on them to answer / like comments, share with groups you may belong to, and share to your other FB pages, if you have more than one.
