Most emails the come to my inbox are read when I get to them. The day I received the email from Lightbox Originals (UK based), it was the accompanying picture that made me open and read it right away. It turned out to be an international invitation to take part in a 100 Word Story Competition. The prompt for the contest was the beautiful picture that had caught my eye—a sunset reflecting on the water with a lighthouse at the water’s edge.
I entered a piece I titled Hypnotic Light.
A few weeks later, I received an email telling me that my entry was one of the twenty that made the long list. It was going through to the next level.
The winners have been announced, and after reading the entries that made up the final group, I am not disappointed mine was not among the winning ten. They are all great pieces, and it is an honour to know that all of our words, mine included, were in the running.
