It was another day in my Xeriscape World. That 4’ x 8’ garden bed I spoke of before has, over the years, taken on a life form all its own. Survival of the fittest! So, the work bee started. It was time to do some grid work. Working in two foot square plots to eradicate, rescue and plan for reuse. I left the Flax and Rue middle plot alone until the Flax has finished blooming. The end east end plot with Rue, Tulips and Monkshood will most likely be left as is, for now, anyway. |

I was disappointed to find not one of the tulips or hyacinth bulbs made it through the past winter. But, and there is always a but, pleased to no end in finding two small pieces of Iris rhizomes with tiny shoots on them. The Irises were brought from my Mom and Dad’s place over thirty years ago.
