I become an animated talking machine when I answer. Describing what the drawing card is in getting out of bed before sunrise. Explaining the 1000’s of pictures taken. The feeling you get when you’re in positions to watch the sun peek over the ridge and through the trees. The moon set. The world of nature waking up.
It’s not for everyone. I know that. There are mornings it’s not for me either. But given the chance to see, hear and capture life at this time of day just does it for me.
Every day is different. I leave the house with the thought that seeing the sunrise and hearing the birds wake up will be enough. There are never any expectations of what I will see or hear. The gift comes from the unexpected sightings, sounds and the quiet. But the sun, and the colours radiating across the sky, well, there is very few times that Mother Nature doesn’t give me a spectacular start to the morning .
These few pictures and videos are from SW Alberta in the foothills of the Livingstone Range. They are all taken on different days and different seasons.
