| 1995. Fifty-four years after a training flight crashed and burst into flames in Simon’s Valley, a commemorative plaque was dedicated to the honour the three people involved. In all probability, there are few people who travel Alberta’s Highway 567 between Airdrie and Cochrane, that have any idea what the memorial is about that sits just off to the side of the road. It is now seventy-five years since this event happened. It is a story that needs to be shared about the Canadian aviation history and a local lady school teacher who tried to save two lives on November 10, 1941. |
