November, for writers, is a significant month. It is NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and for those who strive to reach the 50,000 words that is the ultimate goal, you are to be commended.
The Airdrie Public Library Wednesday Night Writing Group had a challenge presented to them. For the month of November each person was to keep track of how many words they had written.  This challenge came about to support those that were taking part of NaNoWriMo and to give others some incentive to write as little or as much as they could.
The totals word count that was turned in from ten participating members was 159027.  Considering the average book has between 250 - 300 words per page, these writers collectively wrote 550 + pages based on 275 words per page count.
Each person had different goals for the month of November, and not everyone chose to be involved in the challenge. Here are the numbers from each who participated - 50344, 24263, 23674, 21000, 11792, 7626, 7378, 5800, 4150 and 3000.
Well done everyone! We are looking forward to hearing some of your work at our future Wednesday night gatherings.
