Homework

Homework! Rushing at the end to put something together. Anything that will placate my mind. Showing I cared enough to write. It saddens me to think that I am not sure I will meet the task and the criteria.

Oh yes, I wrote. And I wrote some more but not about the prompts that should have inspired me. My trail took me towards the completion of a short story first draft. I dodged off here and there. Writing several other short pieces. In there somewhere an invitation to write a 2000 word piece for an anthology prompts me to finish its first draft.

The homework kept popping up on the screen as a reminder. Rearing its head each time I turned the machine on. Telling me that I should write something. Anything!

I listened to music while I wrote what suited me and ignored my homework assignments. I considered my decision to not pick one line of music, since all music moves me in some way. Would this suffice as my excuse to not to pick a single line to expound on? Music in its grandest form soothes me to write. Crashes around me admonishing me when I don’t and supplies the rhythm when I am in a zone. That’s when the words populate the blank pages with gusto and the storyline explodes.

There are days when I write for hours listening to tunes from one station, then another. Setting the mood, relaxing my soul and jump starting the plot. A day of incessant writing, has me reflect. Is it possible fatigue of abundance has taken place? A day filled with thousands of words written not edited or critiqued. A rush to get as much and more on the paper before the thoughts die for the day from over work. If this is so, I say bring on the state of the glorious fatigued mind, any day.

I am not sure if I met the specifications of the homework assignments. But oh how I have enjoyed ignoring the task while I traveled with pen and paper to the places that beckoned me.

Note to Readers - Homework assignment (Use the words fatigue of abundance; and, Write something based on a line from a song that inspires you.) Above submission accepted by my peers
