Watching the truck and trailer leave the yard, Liz played Mac’s call over in her mind. He insisted Tal be the one to bring the rig. The anguish in his voice when he told her he needed a medivac, NOW, continued to send chills through her. He’d fill her in when he got home. Cell service was minimal at its best near the falls. Liz tried to remember who Mac had sent to check on the cows out there. Stay busy she told herself. Then she remembered. Ranch life could be a torment to those who have to wait. |
