Ann Edall-Robson Author, Photographer, Lover of Life "Capturing moments others may never get to experience." | Carrot Ranch Flash Fiction Prompt - January 31, 2019 - Write a story about sea mist. |
It settles again over the rocks, across the land. The morning mist portrays an eerie light to all who wake early to see the beginning of another day. Wandering along the craggy outcrops on the mudded gravel path, the damp penetrates to the bone. Hair and mittens become saturated from the fine spray slapping against faces, shrouding all signs of life with a wet, misty blanket. Landlocked, the mist will only go when the sun burns through and the temperature warms. It is a sign of real moisture to come in ninety days hence. So the old timers say. #AnnEdallRobson #TheQuietSpirits #MoonRising #FromWhereICome #99Words #FlashFiction #LandlockedMist

The simplicity of your opening anchors me into a timeless story that repeats. I like your inclusion of the old-timers' experiences and wisdom of what it means to those who live on the land.

There are not many left that know the meaning of the fog and mist. It's important to pass this information onto the generations coming behind us. Trivial to some, yet to others it is gospel.
