Challenges
From the APL Writing Group
March 30 - For those craving homework, Ann suggested: Each day write something that incorporates an identified word (you choose and identify) that starts with the designated letter of the alphabet for that day - see list.
It is your choice what you write - poem, story, limerick, haiku - whatever you choose.
The only rules are to use the designated daily letter and keep track of your word count.
NOTE - On April 6, Sheila H read some of her challenge pieces using the letter at the beginning of each word for each piece she wrote each day. Check out Shane's contributions he is posting on his blog
Information
Margaret has shared two links to sites that were of interest. One about Creative Non Fiction and
Numero Cinq.
Tandy has provided us with the link to a workshop happening in Airdrie on April 30, 2016.
Jennifer suggested a contest that may be of interest through the Calgary Public Library.
Thanks to Judy for the update on the Writer in Residence she has been investigating for Airdrie. It is now on the radar for future consideration by APL when the new library is a reality.
Here are some links to other residencies that may be of interest:
Wallace Stegner House in Eastend, SK (Thanks Margaret for suggesting this one).
Berton House in Dawson City, Yukon
Gladstone Library in Flintshire, England
Voice and Vision Partnership - Jennifer is doing a great job keeping us informed via email and at the weekly meetings about the progress of this exciting collaboration between writers and artists. If you are not receiving her updates, please email Jennifer direct to make sure your email address is correct on her mail out list. Also, check you junk/trash email folders.
From Jennifer's latest email - We also discussed: if you already have a piece that you would like to use for this collaboration as the first exchange piece with your partner, that is fine.
The first piece does not need to be one created only for this collaboration.
The "response piece" will be created after you get your partner's piece on May 4th.
APL Workshops - There is some planning in the works by APL regarding writing workshops. They wanted to know if the Writers' Group would be interested in these being on a Wednesday night. Possibility of one per quarter. Tentative commencement in September. Topics for workshops would/could include: Editing Your Work, How to Connect with a Publisher, etc.
If you have any ideas for a workshop topic, please let Ann or Jennifer know.
